Hi,
Thinking about getting into a houseboat as my primary residence. Looking around the South Bay Area in California. Does anyone have an idea of prices for used (don't think I can afford new)? And/or do people rent houseboats? I probably would need something in the 30-40 foot range (something similar to a small studio apartment). Thanks!

Re: Newbie
Thu, April 6, 2006 - 6:56 PMNo I didn't. I did discover that houseboats are rented but for short periods of time and it's not cheap. However, I discovered (due to the fact that I now sell boats!) that I can buy a nice used boat and get a berth. I've been looking into Grand Banks boats as I've heard that are generally well kept by by their owners and retain their value well. I'm also looking to stay more on the San Joaquin Delta area where berthing rates are cheaper, somewhere around $7.50 - 8.00 a foot. Usually you can get a nice used houseboat or similar boat if you go through a broker. Let me know if I can be of any help. Good luck!
